Working with Lee Griffiths could be described using so many words, but ‘uneventful’ certainly isn’t one of them.

This weekend found us at the Circle Club, an ‘exclusive’ members club just off St Annes Square in Manchester. The venue was initially quite welcoming, but the organisation behind the promoter who got us in there was rather shady to say the least. We ended up having to sort out the club’s sound system (which wasn’t our job) and this threw out the whole evening’s timings. We were the headlining act, but what we didn’t realise was that the promoter was the girlfriend of one of the support acts, and she had an agenda of her own: getting her fella noticed at any cost. TRAINING UPDATE

Fitting in some quality training around my work is proving to be a bigger challenge than I anticipated. Virgin Active on Deansgate is rammed of an evening meaning that I spend more time hanging around than lifting weights.

This morning, I tried it a little differently – I got up at 0615 and cycled to the gym, trained hard on the weights for 45 mins, and then jumped straight back onto the bike and cycled a further seven miles to work. If this early morning routine doesn’t work, I’ll have to think of something different.

Currently, my training aims are to put on some muscle mass and to improve my cardio.

How cool is that?

A chance conversation with one of my sound-engineering friends showed that we had quite an overlap of interests. In collaboration with a few local lads, Matt is helping to create a mountain-bike park on some wasteland in Trafford Park. I shan’t say just where, as it’s semi-secret due to legal and privacy reasons – i.e. it’s not official yet, nor do they want chavs coming along and spoiling it.

However, it is literally in the back garden of my place of work. Now that the weather is getting better, I can see me nipping out in my lunch breaks and coming back covered in mud and bruises…
