Love like a river
Flowing through and around,
Caring little for those who are caught in its flood,
Tossing the strongest like leaves on the wind,
Tumbling recklessly all in its path.

Nothing can stop it.
It laughs at our efforts.
I am inevitable: Love conquers all.
Tell that to the man who has swum in its currents,
Battered and weary and chilled to the bone.

Close your ears. Shut your eyes.
Lock the door. Stop the world.
Forget for now. Today can wait.
Leave with hope and smile for me.

I sat down with Ash the other day and worked out just how many times we’d moved each in the past few years. Ash has moved TEN times in the past five years, and I’m not that far behind. It is said that moving house ranks as one of the most stressful events in your life. Having become an old hand at moving house, I will tell you that it doesn’t get any easier with practice – it gets harder!

When you allow youself to settle down a bit, what do you do? You buy things you wouldn’t normally buy, of course! I have acquired a large double bed, computers, desks, music equipment, so many damned BOOKS. In the past I might have moved with the aid of a couple of suitcases and bags; now I need to enlist the help of friends, vans and strong backs. It’s no fun.

I finally finished patch-painting and shifted the last box early on Monday morning. A quick drive to Didsbury at 3.30am to post the keys and that was the end of The Cube for me. :o (   I must admit I have enjoyed staying at the Cube enormously. Yes it wasn’t as swanky as Church Street but it was our own place.

My plan to move back into the Sorting House post haste has been scuppered for now. There was a flood in the building and the place will not be habitable until near to Christmas. I’m holding out, but not sure I can stomach two more moves before Christmas: I’m staying in my good mate Matthew’s spare room for a few weeks and don’t want to move again at the end of the month unless it is to somewhere more permanent. Time to get looking again….

Thanks very much to my friends who’ve rallied round with offers of spare rooms, lifts with cars and general trouble-shooting. It could have been even more of a nightmare than it was. :o )
