How deliciously ironic.
Group4Securicor – my former employers who made me redundant at the end of June - contacted me just before the weekend. They have asked me to come back and work for them as a contractor. It seems that they can’t do without some of the skills I was able to provide and are regretting their decision not to keep me on.
I’m going back initially on a part-time basis (and on a fair bit more than I was on when I was an employee!) to do some specific tasks. However, it seems that a few other people want to employ me there, too – so it may quickly become full-time once more.
Being self-employed is a bit of a daunting prospect though. I’ve never had to manage my own tax and stuff before, so it’s gonna be a steep learning curve. And not the only one: I’m starting college in September. Audio Engineering Techniques and Technology at the Spirit School of Sound Recording (SSR).
Can’t wait. Bring it on!
